Europe : dans quel pays partir en vacances sans trop dépenser ?

Les destinations les moins chères d'Europe

L’Europe regorge de destinations touristiques de rêve… comment en sélectionner une ? Comparer les prix des hôtels et des frais de restauration peut être un bon début !

Quel budget prévoir pour mon voyage ou mon week-end dans un pays européen ? Le prix du vol – d’autant plus élevé que la destination de mon choix sera éloignée de la France – est bien sûr à prendre en compte.

Mais je dois également considérer le coût de la vie sur place, et plus particulièrement le prix des dépenses qui me concernent en tant que touriste (nourriture, chambres d’hôtel…). Elles seront très différentes, par exemple, entre la Suède et la Hongrie !

Une étude d’Eurostat (l’organisme statistique de l’Union européenne), publiée l’été 2014, permet de me faire une idée des tarifs qui m’attendent dans les différents pays de l’UE. En effet, cette étude fixe, pour chaque pays, un indice du niveau des prix (par rapport à la moyenne des pays de l’UE) pour les frais d’hôtellerie et de restauration (ce qui inclut les prix des auberges de jeunesse, des cafés et des bars).

Ces chiffres permettent d’établir une liste des pays les moins chers de l’UE pour se nourrir et se loger en tant que touriste :

Sans surprise, le top 10 des destinations de l’UE où les restaurants et les hôtels sont les moins coûteux est 100% Europe de l’Est et Balkans :

  1. Bulgarie : le niveau des prix hôtel + resto correspond à 47% de la moyenne des prix des pays de l’UE !
  2. Roumanie : le niveau des prix est de 52%,
  3. Hongrie : 53%,
  4. République tchèque : 58%,
  5. Lituanie : 64%,
  6. Slovaquie : 68%,
  7. Croatie : 74%,
  8. Pologne : 75%,
  9. Lettonie : 75%,
  10. Estonie : 77%.

Ce n’est qu’à partir du 11e pays du classement que l’on trouve des destinations non-orientales : le Portugal (77%) puis Malte (89%).

Par ailleurs, si je souhaite sortir des frontières de l’UE tout en restant sur le continent, je trouverai des prix particulièrement bas en Albanie (42%) et en Macédoine (42%), soit au nord de la Grèce (pas la porte à côté, il est vrai !), ou dans les Balkans : en Serbie (50%), en Bosnie-Herzégovine (59%) et au Monténégro (63%).

… et les plus chères !

Attention : partir en vacances dans un pays scandinave ne sera pas indolore pour mon portefeuille ! Voici quelles destinations en Europe (pays hors UE compris) me coûteront le plus cher en frais de restauration et d’hôtellerie :

  1. Norvège : le niveau des prix atteint presque le double des prix moyens européens (189%) !
  2. Suisse : 152%,
  3. Danemark : 149%,
  4. Suède : 146%,
  5. Finlande : 128%,
  6. Irlande : 128%,
  7. Islande : 123%,
  8. Belgique : 116%,
  9. Pays-Bas : 115%,
  10. Italie : 110%.

Pour me faire une idée, l’indice du niveau des prix hôtels + restos en France est égal à 111%. En d’autres termes, dans un pays situé au-dessus de l’Italie dans ce classement, les repas au restaurant et les nuitées dans des hôtels devraient me coûter plus cher qu’en France.

Attention aux frais de change lors de votre voyage

Qui dit pays européen ne dit pas forcément euro ! Dans certains pays du continent, je dois prévoir des frais de change : au Royaume-Uni (livre sterling), en Norvège (couronne norvégienne), en Croatie (kuna), en Bulgarie (lev bulgare)…
